The upward spiral

Many people talk about a downward spiral that they themselves have experienced, or indeed, witnessing others do it. This is on an emotional level and regularly moving down the spiral can lead to depression, anxiety, issues of self-worth, not improving your insecurities etc. It is possible to be a person who can move up the spiral - in a positive way, where you can allow yourself to feel important guiding emotions such as sadness, anger, jealousy - then consciously make  a decision that you don't wish to remain there and find ways to move yourself up. This doesn't mean you go from sadness to joy in a second ( although this is achieveable), but it does mean making the effort to incrementally move yourself towards a better feeling place.

Relationship Management

A key factor in engaging in positive work connections means you need to understand how you manage your relationships. This means evaluating the impact people have on your success (or lack) and how you also add value to other people's improvement in some way. Not all success is measurable immediately, but if you don't know how you want to improve your relationships at work in the first place, then you can't know what to look for. So, a great starting point is to take a moment to determine how you want your relationships to improve and then formulate a plan to do it.

Coaching and training in Mindfulness is very rewarding. It allows me a chance to show that I walk my talk and engage with people that want more of this in their lives. Mindfulness allows you to connect on a deeper level with your emotions and how they impact your daily activities. It also helps you realise that you can understand what your emotions are telling you and use them to your advantage!

You know when you’re around someone and they make you feel good? Or you walk into a room and you can feel the vibe? That’s the energy of the Universe you’re noticing – the Vibration. We are all vibrational beings, always sending out our own vibration into the Universe, and the Universe is always listening…. and answering.

They share their insights on how this Law has worked in their lives and those they teach. Our Level 1 Workshop helps you learn how to bring this into your daily life in a meaningful way using the teachings of Esther & Jerry Hicks.

As powerful manifestors we must take responsibility for our own lives – which is exciting, because this means it’s all within our own control. So if you would like to learn how to tap into this amazing law of the Universe to manifest what you really want, join us for our Level 1 Workshop this March.

You will complete Level 1

Grief at Christmas Time

Be prepared not just for Christmas Day, but the aftermath, when it's quiet and you're alone. Use your tools to help you get through these days better than before.

Christmas Grief Workshops

Tonight, we begin the journey of helping those that are grieving and struggling with the festive season.

Find a moment to consider your own mental health. Find a moment to consider how healthy your thoughts are. Self-awareness is not just about being aware of your thoughts, it's recognising limiting patterns and beliefs that are holding you back. So just like we have a check up at the doctors for our physical health, do the same with yourself, for yourself, for your mental health.

Confidence is in the eye of the beholder

Confidence  - [ˈkɒnfɪdəns]

  1. A feeling of trust in a person or thing I have confidence in his abilities
  2. Belief in one's own abilities; self-assurance
  3. Trust or a trustful relationship take me into your confidence
  4. Something confided or entrusted; secret in confidence as a secret

Spring clean your toxic 'friends'

Some people in our lives are there to help draw our strengths out of us. They are often our most challenging, hard-work friends whom you may also describe as emotionally high-maintenance. There is significant value in allowing these people to remain in our lives, as long as this is balanced with enough giving and receiving for you to feel energised. However, there are those people that, for whatever reason, tend to drain us, make us doubt ourselves constantly, criticise us behind a veiled comment and speak about us behind our backs. These people are also in our lives for a reason - for us to learn to let them go. These so-called friends are toxic and offer no joy or healing in their presence. So this Spring, consider which 'friends' you may need to let go and don't feel guilty about it - just do it in a way that keeps your integrity in tact. Good luck!

Integrating loss

We have heard the Elisabeth Kubler-Ross theory about the 5 stages of grief, which, over time have been distorted by others to refer to a linear emotional experience. This was never the original intention of this understanding. And of course, over time as more people have become 'expert's' in this field, they have added another 2 stages.

Of the biggest and most fundamental issue underlying any of these emotions is how we cope with them. The fashionable to is how do we integrate this loss into our lives? If your every day interactions were high - say a phone call every day at 3pm coffee time, a weekly dinner/movie or living with this person, the loss is oftentimes felt more keenly and the bereaved will need to find ways to fill this time in. My passion is always about the coping mechanisms we develop to help us through this integration. The emotional stages can be felt anytime, but it's what we do with them that's important.

Suicide - it is no different to a person suffering a terminal illness

Suicide is often a taboo subject for many reasons. Sometimes the feelings this brings up in those left behind can be too confronting for others to be part of. Yet it is about time that suicide attempts or the final act of, was viewed in the same way as a terminal illness. The major difference between the two is that one can be seen publicly and the other is completely hidden. Yet in terms of the state of the illness, they are both the same. While many view mental illness as something within our control, and terminal illness beyond our control, they are in fact extremely similar. Both would be described as insidious, impacting all those around them and causing the sufferer a great deal of introspective reflection. The same compassion shown for those with a physical ailment, needs to be demonstrated to those that have either suicided, or attempted to do so. Now is the time to 'Be aware, Be forgiving and Be compassionate.

July New Moon today - Connecting with different energy

The moon has long held traditions with many cultures of rebirth and renewal. Each new moon allows you an opportunity to tune into 'letting go'. We look at this meaning as letting go of limiting beliefs and behaviours, habits that disempower you or patterns of attitude and circumstances that keep you stuck in a place you no longer want to be. This new moon gives you a focus for honoring your deepest, most irrational and intimate, feelings; recognizing the sense of security and safety we derive from whatever it is we call home; allowing ourselves to accept support and offering support to others; and starting a project aimed at improving our domestic lives. Try this focus approach and see what happens!

Take one step at a time

Focus all your attention on the current step you are taking right now to bring you closer to your goals. Don't worry about the ones you may need to take tomorrow, next week, month or even in a year. These don't matter right now. Trust that when the time comes you will action them with the same energy and faith you are applying to your current step. Goals and realisations are not accomplished overnight - every small step counts. So start this month off by remembering to focus your best intentions and energy into the current step, today.

Coping with fresh grief

Grief is unique, yet universal. Coping with grief in the first few hours, days and weeks can be extremely difficult and many people may feel like there is no end to the darkness. Loss, anger and sadness will be intermingled with feelings of denial and shock. From each moment to the next your emotions may be all over the place. So how do you cope? Each person has their own unique way, so if you need some help getting through these early times, tap into your network. It might be a person who wasn't as close to the loved that one that has just passed. Look for different resources and most importantly, be kind to yourself. It is a time of transition and while natural, not something you need to do alone.

It helps to have someone else believe in you first

Who do you believe in and how are you helping them to achieve their potential, overcome obstacles or develop more confidence? If you have ever had another person truly believe in you, then you know the power of this, so now it's time to share. Use affirming words where you can. Give true praise and show your sincerity without being profuse. If you haven't been this 'type' of person before, start with small steps, otherwise people may feel you have an ulterior motive! So recognise who in your life this would have the most impact with, commit the investment of time and energy and start today!

Standing tall

Posture is important to not just how others perceive you, but how you feel about yourself. Standing tall and walking confidently go a long way to contributing to feeling this way. Acting 'as if you are' is as good as be-coming it. Standing tall will also shift your energy levels up. The positive body language also helps create a positive mind-set and will help others engage with you in this way also. Exepctations create outputs and outcomes, so try it today and see how you feel and how others respond to you.

The Year of the Black Water Snake

In this Chinese New Year, the Snake represents many of the same qualities it does for Native American people. Looking to animals and different cultures for finding greater connection with yourself and others can be a source of great inspiration. Indeed, it may also provide a degree of light heartedness, while also providing some insight and revelations. In this year of the Snake, the emotions feature strongly. Key positive traits of the snake in general include rebirth, patience, healing, cunning, transformation, protection, rejuvenation. How will you use this year to best help you with your grief, your confidence or your next goal?

What is an attractive investment of your time and energy?

Working out this simple, yet deeply probing question is also worth investing your time and energy. Are you spending your time and emotional energy where it's needed most. Is your energy being drained? Do you feel like you don't have enough time? How are you priotising what is most effective for your energy?

Learn something new every day

Making a commitment to learning new pursuits, activities and skills helps you refocus on the here and now. Keeping your brain and mind youthful (yes, they are separate!) is powerful in healing and connecting to new sources of energy. What new things are you looking at learning today, tomorrow, for 2013? Make the commitment to yourself.

Creativity and good fortune

Being creative with your questions is a good place to start on your path to good fortune. How? By the questions you ask yourself you either expand your feelings of optimism and hope, or focus on defeatism and depression. Putting a 'spin' on your thinking is not being deluded, it is being creative in how you manage your emotional state. It's about having a strategy to see how you expand your positive ways of thinking. How does this bring good fortune? Simply accessing a different state of mind will change your perspective on good fortune when it comes your way. Expanding your vocabularly is a great place to start!

Are you moving forward?

It is only once we've travelled down a path that we can look back and see how far we have come. Grief and growing through these times is just like this. When you feel like you are completely stuck, you may need professional help. This will assist you in recongising your growth phases and the path you are walking along. You may have very high expectations of yourself that you can't seem to meet. This unnecessary pressure will only hinder your ability to actually see your progress.

Daily gratitude and healing

In grief, in happy times or times of nonchalance, are you feeling grateful on a daily basis for all the wonder and magic in your life? The process of establishing a genuine bond with the feelings of thankfulness, appreciation and gratitude form the pillars of healing. Of course it's easier to practice these feelings in times of ease, however the knack is to never let them go through the harder times. Focus each day on the basics first - your health, your food, your shelter, your family, your friends, your ability to think, your ability to connect, your ability to help yourself. Then move up the scale to the intricate details of the day - the weather and what it helped you do, your pets and how they made you feel, a stranger that smiled at you, how someone else responded to your kindness. Start today and see how you feel in 7 days - it's a habit that will change how you see the world and your place in it for the better!

Spring cleaning your emotional wardrobe

Do you have unfinished business with someone? are you never able to confront or even see this person again? How do you resolve this, or are you simply trying to ignore the nagging feeling that crops up from time to time. Often unfinished business is centred on a perceived injustice and it's much easier to say, just forgive and let go. However in spring cleaning your real wardrobe, how hard is it to part with an item that you paid quite a bit for but have never worn - in years? It can be a real challenge. So look at it like this, as part of your investment of time and energy spent agonising over this unfinished business, how do you literally take it out of your emotional wardrobe? Your life coach can help you do this to help you find the peace you deserve.

Opening up

This can be a scary notion for many people. Fear of acceptance of who they truly are holds so many people back from opening up their true selves. In doing this they deny themselves the most precious gift of all, the gift to themselves to be themselves. Past experiences of hurt and painful wounds can be helped by opening up and sharing with another to find a new perspective. Opening up does make you vulnerable, but not to being hurt, but to simply having the chance to let go and heal. In embracing this vulnerability you are showing courage and strength and in the true essence, really loving yourself.

Igniting the fire within you

Many people look back on their life and recognise the passion they had for certain activities, people or pursuits. If you have lost your fire lately and are looking at how to reignite this, examine the root cause of what really gets you inspired and motivated. It might not be the 'doing' of any one thing, however it may be creating something from nothing, helping others, connecting with new people, establishing new processes for long-term benefits, being spontaneous, seeking novelty or feeling connected.

Winter Solstice - a time for looking to the light again

The Winter Solstice marks the shortest day and longest night of the year. Since neolithic times it has had cultural and spiritual significance across the world and ages. Many of us are unaware of this date and it has no meaning in our lives. In being more connected with nature, we help ourselves heal in a way that recognises our connectedness with the universe. Today, use this Solstice to look to the increasing light in your life and finding new ways to allow more in.

Beating the 'winter blues'

Colder weather prompts more indoor activities. This might be lounging around hibernating in front of the TV. If this is the case, then make the most of it and don't spend it moping, spend it laughing! Find some comedies you love, or new, novelty shows that make you laugh out loud. Laughter really is the best medicine as it positively impacts every organ in the body, increases oxygen in our blood which helps healing and circulation. It can also lower your heart rate, dilate your arteries, stimulate your arteries and even burn up calories. So what have you been laughing at lately?

Create your ideal day

Focusing on how you co-create your life starts with a single day, even a moment in time. Take 10 minutes each day (shower's a good place for this!) and start visualising your ideal day. Imagination is the key here - picture everyone around you being open-minded, on time, energetic. See all your needs being managed, all your chores being done with ease. Before you go to sleep, give your subconscious mind a boost and for it's work overnight and see yourself doing a fantastically the next day with every encounter and job you need to address. Try it for 21 days and see how this starts chanigng your life!

When your life no longer suits you

Sometimes we find ourselves at a point in our lives when we've ticked all the boxes we set out to - married, kids, career, material possessions. Then we find that although this is what we had aspired to, we are not particularly happy. Even more so, we may be depressed. When you journey inwards, you may find that your aspirations began as other peoples expectations of you. You may feel that it's too late, that your choices have been made, so what can you do? Now is always the best time to begin understanding how you got to be where you are so you can start co-creating your experience for today and tomorrow. What do you need to do to become the true co-creator in your life?

Coping with birthdays, anniversaries and holidays when you are grieving

These times in particular can be very challening for people. And it isn't just the day itself. Becoming anxious in the lead up to the day and panicking about how you may cope can be just as detrimental to you as the actual day itself. There are so many things you can do, however I also like to believe that there are so many ways in which you can think about these days. It is in the thinking that we have a greater understanding and awareness of our feelings. What are you thinking about to create your feelings on these momentous days?

April is Aphrodite's month

Aphrodite became the Greek Goddess of every dish, spicy or mild, in the great banquet of sexuality. Represented by a dove, the dove in the Bible is associated with peace, pureness and gentleness...not lust. Legends are transformed in meaning all the time. Is now a time for you to transform yourself and gather new meaning and understanding around who you really are?

The power of Green!

St Patrick's Day sees places all over the world awash with green! And what a great colour it is too. Green represents the heart chakra and is linked with helping overcome fear, calm the body and release frustration and anger. Also linked with envy, jealousy and superstition, green is actually a very healing colour in that it replenishes your energy and helps you relax, meditate and heal. For more information on how colour can impact your body: The Secret Language of your Body - Inna Segal.

Showing how confident you really are!

What if you stopped listening to that little voice inside your head that caused you to doubt yourself? How liberating to tell it to shut-up and go away for a while? Sure, you may feel that it provides you with a cautionary aspect to taking action that has perhaps saved you from embarrassment. But - what has it stopped you doing that you really, really wanted to do? How is it holding you back? Life Coaching is a great way to develop skills to minimise the impact this 'little voice' has on holding you back.

Grief and Love

How can we truly understand another's grief? How can we possibly understand how that individual is experiencing something so personal? When we come from a position of love, we show compassion, empathy and respect. This is also a gentle reminder to ourselves when we are grieving. Showing yourself compassion, kindness, empathy and love is paramount to coping in the hardest of times.

Looking for inspiration, motivation or love?

Don't wait to be-come inspired - be inspiring. Don't wait to be motivated - be movtivating. Don't wait to be loved - be loving. When we remember that we can unlock the potential within us by having a perspective that is slightly different, our energy automatically shifts to align us with this. Try it and see how you feel!

Set a new policy for yourself - No Complaints!

Setting out on a detox for your body is often easier than doing the same for your mind. However, detoxifying the words you choose to describe yourself, your experiences and your desires is equally important. Rethink the power of your words and have fun finding new words to express yourself. You may find that you become more empowered; feel that you have more control over situations and your reactions. Coming from a position of being positive and not 'griping' can  serve you in many ways. So next time you go to complain, listen very carefully to yourself.

Focus on what you want, not what you don't have

Everyone talks about new year's resolutions and indeed, some people set a clear goal and chase after it. For those of you that want to make lifestyle choices, rather than focusing on what you don't want anymore, focus on what you do want. For example - "I'd like to lose weight."  Simply modify this statement slighty - "In 3 monhs i will weigh 75 kilos." The focus is not on loss, but on what it is you actually want. A small change with a big difference.

Valentine's Day - who do you really love?

Take the time today to show how much you love yourself. How can you expect someone else to show you their love if you don't even show yourself. Self-respect, self-worth and feeling connected with spirit  are all ways to show that you love yourself.  Or it may be that you decide to buy your favourite bunch of flowers, or cook your favourite meal, or that you take a moment to tell yourself how much you love you!

Don't wait for someone else to do it - starting loving yourself today.

Year of the Metal Rabbit

What does this eastern astrological new year mean for you? 2010 was the year of the Tiger, which many people found explosive. In contrast, you may find this year to be more tempered and relaxed, more happy and carefree. Time to focus on attention to detail.

Finding the message in anything symbolic can be powerful and deeply personal.  See what meaning this year will have for you.

Hailing in the New Year: 2011 - throw out the goals

Rather than goal setting - which many people find can motivate them (without inspiring them), which in turn ends up becoming a burden that they carry around and developing self-defeating mantras such as - I should do this...I'm meant to be doing that....leading to.....I never end up achieving my goals....I'm hopeless....why do I bother?

Easy remedy. Don't set goals. Try re-evaluating your values and better understanding what is really important to you in your life right now. It may be that spending more time with your family is important to you because it gives you a sense of security, or of feeling loved or even a feeling of accomplishment. Once you have determined these values, then make incremental steps to help yourself connect with them more often.

Grief & Bereavement Survey

Blaze Coaching is currently developing a survey to learn HOW people cope with their grieving and bereavement experiences. There is a lot of information available about the different stages of grief and what you are likely to feel and experience, but there is not as much information about how people cope. Once this survey is available, we hope that you will be able to share part of your story, so that you too can help others.

Tying up loose ends

We can sometimes believe we have moved on from a hurtful experience. It may be from childhood, a recent relationship or it may be that you never had a chance to say goodbye to someone that has passed over. Going about your daily life and appearing to 'cope' doesn't mean the wound will heal. It's more likely that it will hold you back from experiencing the joy you deserve in a new relationship, hold you back from trying new activities or feeling good about yourself. How do you tie up loose ends? First, you need to identify what they are and then have a plan on how you will let go and heal these hurts.

Dream Journals

Dreams are the way in which our subconscious has a chance to reorganise our thoughts, connect with our higher self and receive messages that we tend to block when we are awake. So what are your dreams telling you? A great way to discover this is to have a dream journal. Have a little notebook, so that when you wake you can jot down - the tattslotto numbers, a reminder to contact a friend you haven't seen in a long time, or a feeling you had while you were dreaming. You may see patterns start to emerge which can help you in a myriad of ways.

Using Colour Therapy

What's your favourite colour? How does it make you feel when you see it, wear it, touch it? What memories does it evoke for you? A very practical way to help heal yourself is through using colour. So make sure you are able to wear it, see it, 'smell' it and eat it!!

Grief Writing

Often expressing ourselves with the written word is extremely enlightening, healing and gratifying. if you haven't tried this before, simply find a nice place to sit with a pen in hand and just see what comes to mind. It may not be related to your grief at all, but it will help your mind unravel some little gems that have been hiding from you.

Body Language - do you know how to read it?

What's your body saying to others?

Often we think that whenever someone crosses their arms it means that they are withdrawing or blocking us out. However, sometimes it might mean that they are, very simply, cold.  To really determine whether they are indeed using a more negative form of body langauage, it is always necessary to consider several facets. These include the context of the conversation and a shift in discussion, energy. You will also need to look at several other 'signs' being displayed, such as the face, tone of voice, eye contact etc.

People believe they are very good at reading other people's body language - what's your body telling other people?

Being grounded

Staying grounded and connected to your source

Getting caught up in other people's dramas, other people's expectations and fears can sometimes leave us feeling ungrounded. Overwhelming feelings of stress and tiredness compete with us being connected to the center of who we really are.

When was the last time you felt grounded - connected? Do you take time out to focus on this? Meditation, being in nature and being with supportive friends is a great way to stay grounded and connected.

Monitoring your thoughts

We have 55,000 thoughts a day

Where are you directing your thoughts? Are they focused? Are they positive and empowering? Or are they filled with self-doubt? Monitoring your thoughts is one of the most powerful actions you can take to help you reach your goals.  Sometimes when we are holding onto the past our thoughts can get caught up in a vortex that spirals into depression and negativity. How do you counteract this? What tools have you got in your toolkit to combat these thoughts? Do you know how to reach inside yourself to pull yourself out of this place - so you can be in a better, happier place?

Time for you

3 little words that mean so much

But what do they really mean? We are programmed to put others first. To be self-ish is not generally an accepted action. However, all our friends and family, with well meaning intentions, will often advise in times of hardship that we need to put ourselves first with the catchcry - make time for you!

If you're having difficulty putting yourself first and meeting your own needs, now is a great time to reassess who is really living your life.

Help for Victorian Bushire Survivors - Moving Forward

Feeling helpless in the face of mother nature or being a victim of senseless arson, whichever way you view it, it is often felt as a complete sense of loss and devastation.  The traumatic events that have taken place over the last 72 hours will have a lasting effect with all Australians in various ways.

At this point in time, it is important to find support networks - whether they be informal (family, friends, community) or formal (Red Cross, Salvation Army, Local Council) to help you in whatever way you need.  Sometimes we have no words of comfort, but a hug goes a long way.  Human touch reminds us of our existence and impact on each other.

If you find yourself in a situation where you need some guidance to help make sense of it all, please click here for your free one hour complimentary coaching session.  This offer is valid until 31 December 2010.
