What is NLP?

NLP is the acronym for Neuro-Linguistic  Programming.  In essence, NLP  encompasses the three most influential components involved in producing what we call our 'human experience'.  These are:

  • Neurology
    • The neurological system regulates how our bodies function
  • Language
    • Language determines how we interface and communicate with other people
  • Programming
    • Programming determines the kinds of models of the world we create

NLP describes the fundamental dynamics between mind (neuro) and language (linguistic) and how their interplay effects our body and behavior (programming).

NLP is a technique that can be used subtly or very distinctly as part of your coaching sessions.  Your coach will determine the best way to guide you to the outcomes you are seeking and may elect to use NLP techniques to assist with this process.

There are multiple ways to assist people with the application of NLP through psychology and counseling, education, business modelling, corporate cultural change, management development, sport performance, personal development and coaching.

NLP brings in a very practical process to sharpen your observation and listening ability and enable you to identify patterns in people's behaviour and language so you can respond to the subtext of their communication.

As a result, your communication is more likely to be more effective as it will help you cut through distractions. At the same time, your own thinking will benefit from these skills as you learn to identify the direction you want to take in conversation and action.
